Mindfulness Practice class

Saturday Morning Mindfulness Practice

Do you find yourself fearing the future?  Do you find yourself mulling over a past decision or regret?  Do you find yourself fantasizing about what could have been or what may be?  Join us on Saturdays starting January 28th from 10:30 AM to noon to learn about an ancient practice that will teach you how to be present in this time and place.  We will be studying the book Three Steps to Mindfulness by Kipp Ryodo Hawley.  In the book, Kipp describes Mindfulness as:

“Continuous, clear awareness of the present moment. Always returning, whether from an emotional outburst, an enjoyable fantasy or a melancholy remembrance; always returning to this moment. Rather than having your “mind full” of something, mindfulness clears out excess mental and emotional baggage, bringing clarity and a fluidity of mind that allows thoughts, feelings, and perceptions to flow smoothly through without sticking and hindering each other.”

Each week we will explore and practice the steps of Mindfulness.  The schedule is:

January 28 - Introduction through Storyland
February 4 - Orientation - The First Step
February 18 - Presence - The Second Step, A Different Perspective
February 25 - Integration - the Third Step, Results, Meditation
March 18 - Specific Ways to use the Three Steps through Parting Words

Please read the chapters for each week before class. You can order the book on Amazon or read it online at ZenMindfulness.com
